Jane Allen is an applied artist with a background in Textile Crafts. The emphasis of her practice is on texture, decoration and the hybrid mix of traditional and contemporary techniques; to create simple, uncomplicated fabrics and sculptural forms. While she specialises in embroidery and surface manipulation, her practice extents to painting, print and mixed media.
She designs and makes bespoke interior fabrics, decorative artifacts, installations,
and works for architectural spaces; her recent work plays with the idea of
transparency and opacity, through layering and pleating techniques.
